CCTV TRANSMISSION TECHNOLOGY FOR SPACE SHUTTLE
SUPPORTS LOW-COST SECURITY INSTALLTION
The VTTi passive CCTV video adapter range reduces the time
and cost of installing CCTV and other communications networks
and is used in the Space Shuttle programme. VTTi converts
video data signals for transmission through a UTP (Unshielded
Twisted Pair), such as a standard telephone cable, rather
than conventional and more expensive coax cabling. AVE
, American Video Equipment now has launched VTTi in Europe,
following its acquisition of manufacturer Visions Televideo
Technologies Inc in the USA.
The VTTi’s IC201 video adaptor chip has been approved
for use by NASA, and is specified in the Space Shuttle
programme, to transmit video from cameras located in
the pay-load bay and remote-arm areas of each vehicle.
The
chip, which meets ISO-9001 and US military specifications,
was selected because of the high quality of the transmitted
images. Its use enables the shuttle designers to replace
coax with much lighter UTP and reduce pay-load weight.
VTTi products are passive, requiring no external power
supply, and each installation features two units, to
send and then receive the signal over distances from
800 ft
up to 3,000 ft, for the top of the range VTT5000. They
allow transmission of colour and black & white images,
as well as pan, tilt and zoom signals and sound.
Installers can often utilise existing UTP telephone cabling
in buildings, and the system offers excellent noise immunity,
according to AVE , American Video Equipment director
Mark Bradley. Signals from all common video sources – such
as NTSC, SECAM and PAL - will travel effectively over
UTP.
DIGISPEC VIDEO MOTION DETECTION
AVE , American Video Equipment offers a new range of Digispec
intelligent security systems, following acquisition by
AVE. Digispec Corporation is a leading US-based developer
of video motion detection technology. These embedded stand
alone multi-functional motion detection systems offer the
most reliable motion detection available and are recommended
for any high risk CCTV system.
The Digispec units are connected to CCTV systems for the
detection and monitoring of filmed movement in interior
and outdoor environments. The DS1-PL, DS-16 and VDM1001
enable the user to divide the filmed area, which is viewed
on a control monitor, into a series of virtual zones, for
automatic monitoring and protection. The user can control
precisely the programmable sensitivity, trigger level and
tracking time, to identify images that do not range within
pre-set parameters for size, speed and degree of movement.
AVE’s new SmartView 4 and SmartView 10 address’s
the needs of the remote viewing via almost any type of
connection.
Especially selected by AVE, the SmartView 4 uses a proven
hardware platform, combined with a compact design. The technology
has been especially developed to ensure the solid and reliable
transmission of Video over almost any telecommunication device.
It also combines, video transmission, video recording, remote
access and can be an ideal product for central remote monitoring,
making it the Smart choice for integration with any CCTV
security application.
